Tiny Hearts Project is hosting a fetal heart screening training course in Weslaco for area sonographers and sonography students. The training focuses on teaching ultrasound clinicians how to scan the fetal heart and identify congenital heart disease (CHD).
UTRGV students are invited to assist with event preparation, participant support, and post-event cleanup. Volunteers will help create a welcoming, organized, and successful training experience for the clinicians, sonography students, and pregnant participants serving as scanning models.
Volunteer duties may include:
- Setting up 8 ultrasound scanning stations for the training course
- Arranging the mail room for lectures and training activities
- Assisting with participant check-in
- Helping manage and direct pregnant participants serving as scanning models
- Providing general event support and assisting with event logistics
- Helping staff as needed throughout the training
- Breaking down and organizing ultrasound scanning stations after the training
- Assisting with general event cleanup and teardown
Available Shifts:
- Friday, September 25 | 4:30 PM–6:30 PM — Setup (2–4 volunteers)
- Saturday, September 26 | 1:00 PM–3:00 PM — Event Management & Participant Support (2–4 volunteers)
- Saturday, September 26 | 4:30 PM–6:00 PM — Teardown (2–4 volunteers)
Volunteers may sign up for one or multiple shifts based on their availability.
Requirements:
- No specialized experience is required.
- Must be comfortable assisting with event setup, participant support, and/or cleanup.
- Healthcare or sonography students may find this opportunity especially relevant to their interests, but all UTRGV students are welcome to participate.
