Description

Become a part of our Puppy Room Assistance Support Team!

Our Animal Care Technician Team is responsible for providing daily care to shelter animals while maintaining their health, safety, cleanliness, and overall well-being. Their responsibilities include feeding, providing fresh water, and ensuring kennels, cages, runs, and animal areas are clean, safe, and properly maintained.

Why Puppy Assistance Matters:

By assisting with puppy care and kennels, you help provide a clean, safe, and comfortable environment where puppies can safely reside. Your support helps meet their daily needs and gives them a better chance at a healthy start.

Here are the possible ways you can assist our Laurie P. Andrews ACT team!  Each task will be dependent on high priority and day to day needs determined by our staff.

  • Roles:

    • Kennel Cleaning: Providing regular maintenance for our puppy rooms is a top priority starting at 9:30 AM. We have four puppy rooms that need to be taken care of before the public arrives at 12:00 PM.

      • Volunteers will assist our ACT’s by disinfecting and deep cleaning each kennel by replacing dirty food, water bowls, blankets and toys for each puppy.

    • Paw Pals: Socialization with our cats is crucial to help shy and scared dogs feel safe, secure, and loved. As a whisker whisperer you get to spend small 15 minute breaks at any point of your shift to sit with the pets for socialization. You can play, and give treats while spending quality time with the dogs.

Attire:

  • Must wear pants or jeans (or appropriate-length shorts when allowed), a Volunteer T-shirt, and closed-toe shoes (preferably with grip).

  • Prohibited Items: Pants/jeans are NOT to be torn or ripped, see-through Leggings are NOT permitted. No sandals or Crocs unless approved by a CEED Supervisor. Tank tops are NOT permitted.

  • Jewelry: We strongly suggest avoiding hanging jewelry, facial jewelry, or excess jewelry.

  • Name Badge: You MUST wear your name badge at all times and keep it visible.
