Operation Christmas RGV is seeking a motivated and service-oriented UTRGV student to join our Board of Directors as Treasurer. This leadership position offers students the opportunity to gain real-world nonprofit governance experience while making a lasting impact in the Rio Grande Valley.
The Treasurer is responsible for helping oversee the organization's financial health, ensuring accountability, transparency, and responsible stewardship of charitable funds.
Responsibilities
- Assist in overseeing the organization's finances and budget.
- Review monthly financial reports and expenditures.
- Help ensure accurate financial recordkeeping.
- Present financial updates during Board of Directors meetings.
- Collaborate with the President and fellow board members on financial planning.
- Support fundraising initiatives and organizational growth.
- Help ensure compliance with nonprofit financial policies and reporting requirements.
Preferred Qualifications
Applicants should be:
- Currently enrolled at the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) or South Texas College (STC).
- Pursuing a degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Economics, or a related field.
- Detail-oriented, organized, and dependable.
- Comfortable working with spreadsheets and financial information.
- Able to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment.
- Passionate about community service and nonprofit leadership.
Previous nonprofit or accounting experience is welcomed but not required.
Time Commitment
Board members should be able to commit approximately 5–10 hours per month, but not limited to including:
- Attendance at monthly board meetings.
- Reviewing financial documents and reports.
- Participating in strategic planning discussions.
- Assisting with fundraising events and community outreach when available.
