Operation Christmas RGV is seeking a dedicated and creative Volunteer Social Media & Press Officer to join our Board of Directors. This individual will play a key role in documenting our community impact and sharing our story with the public through social media, photography, and digital communications. The Social Media & Press Officer will help increase community awareness of our programs, events, partnerships, and volunteer opportunities by capturing photos and videos at events and creating engaging content for our online platforms.
Responsibilities
- Attend organization events and activities to capture photos and videos.
- Create and publish content on Facebook and other social media platforms.
- Assist with promoting upcoming events, fundraisers, and volunteer opportunities.
- Help maintain a positive and professional online presence for the organization.
- Coordinate with board members to gather information for announcements and press releases.
- Archive event photos and media for organizational records.
- Assist with media outreach and community engagement when needed.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with social media platforms, especially Facebook.
- Strong written communication skills.
- Photography and videography experience preferred.
- Access to a personal camera or professional-quality smartphone preferred.
- Experience with photo editing software (Canva, Adobe Photoshop, Lightroom, etc.) is a plus.
- Website design or website management experience is a plus.
- Passion for community service and helping underserved families in the Rio Grande Valley.
