Help United Way of South Texas through its VITA Program (Voluntary Income Tax Assistance Program) to assist low-to-moderate income families earning a yearly household income of $67,000 or less in providing free tax preparation services. IRS trainings and certifications are provided, free of charge.
- VITA Volunteers will serve as Greeters, Intake Specialist or Tax preparers under the supervision of one or two experienced site coordinators.
- "Tax Preparers" are volunteers that are trained and certified to become tax preparers. All volunteers must be trained and IRS certified before volunteering at a VITA site. (trainings happened in December and January)
- VITA Volunteers must bring their Form 13615 Volunteer Standards Agreement that shows all trainings have been passed.
The VITA Program provides meaningful volunteer opportunities in which volunteers have a "real" impact on the clients.
