Environmental Health, Safety & Risk Management (EHSRM) is hosting the 2025 UTRGV Household Hazardous Waste Annual Collection, and they’re asking for our support! This event helps the university community safely dispose of household waste free of charge.
Due to last-minute scheduling conflicts with local parades, they’re short on help and are hoping to have 4–5 volunteers to ensure full coverage.
Volunteer Duties:
Volunteers will be split into three groups and rotated as needed:
– Collection (receiving accepted waste items)
– Disposal (helping sort and move items)
– Traffic Control (directing vehicles safely)

Oil, paint, aerosols

Pool, household, and lawn/garden chemicals

Radioactive material

Medical waste or prescription drugs
