Join the UTRGV Mexican American Studies program, Puentes, and LUCHA in celebrating the annual PSJA ISD Día De Los Muertos (DDLM) Altar Competition!
Volunteers will serve as judges, visiting local schools to view and evaluate student-created community altars that honor the traditions of Día De Los Muertos.
Judges will:
- Visit assigned PSJA ISD schools during their selected shift
- Take photos of each school’s community altar
- Use a provided rubric to evaluate each altar based on competition guidelines
Requirements:
- Professional and respectful conduct during judging
- Ability to follow rubric guidelines
- Interest in cultural and community engagement
Note: You will need transportation to the first school. After that, carpooling will be available between campuses.
Students must take their government issues identification cards to enter the schools.
Date: Thursday, October 30
Location: Various PSJA ISD school campuses
Please indicate in the notes section (when responding) which time you are available: Morning (8:00 AM – 12:00 PM), Afternoon (12:00 PM – 5:00 PM), or All Day (8:00 AM – 5:00 PM).
