Want to make a difference for residents in Hidalgo and Starr Counties?
Join the United Way of South Texas by assisting with its VITA Program (Voluntary Income Tax Assistance Program). We provide free tax preparation services to low- to moderate-income families with an annual household income of $65,000 or less.
As a VITA Volunteer, you'll serve as a "Tax Preparer" under the guidance of two Site Coordinators. Tax Preparers are volunteers who receive training and certification to help prepare taxes.
All volunteers must complete training and become IRS-certified before working at a VITA site. Volunteers are welcome to assist at any of the six operating VITA locations.
This program offers meaningful volunteer opportunities that allow you to have a positive impact on our clients.
