Who We Are

MISSION: A World for Children is a non-profit child placing agency, offering an array of services to children in substitute care. We believe that all children deserve to live in a safe and caring environment. The mission of AWFC is to serve at risk children and families by providing quality services focusing on prevention, support, assessment, therapeutic intervention and permanency.

PURPOSE: "Changing the world... one child at a time." These words aren’t just our motto; these are the words our staff and foster parents live by. Every minute of every day, Texas children fall victim at the hands of their parents. They are abused, neglected, and mistreated in ways that the general public cannot begin to imagine. The children enter the doors of A World For Children foster homes with terror, uncertainty, physical scars, and emotional trauma. A World For Children’s foster parents, along with the 24-hour support of A World For Children’s staff, spend every day changing uncertainty into undying stability, mending physical injuries, and providing in-depth treatment for emotional trauma.

What We Do

As a 501(c)(3) non-profit agency, A World For Children contracts with and is licensed by the State of Texas to provide foster and foster-to-adopt services for abused and neglected children across the State. Our extensive reach allows foster parents in all areas of the State to have an office close to their home to provide any support they may need.

The McAllen office provides these services to children from TDFPS as well as teenagers from Hidalgo and Cameron County Juvenile Departments. This office is unique in being able to provide services to abused and neglected children, as well as teens who due to past abuses are struggling to make positive choices. Our foster parents are able to provide these children with support and guidance that all abused and neglected children need when they first come into care. All children need to be loved and nurtured to help them make positive choices in their lives. This is the foundation for our office in working with teenagers and our foster parents embrace the challenges and enjoy the rewards that come in working with these children. AWFC McAllen is growing each month with new foster parents ready to open their hearts and homes to our community children.
