Who We Are

One of over 560 national wildlife refuges in the nation, Laguna Atascosa National Wildlife Refuge was established in 1946.  Today the refuge has nearly 100,000 acres of native ecosystems to provide habitat for native and migratory species of wildlife.

What We Do

We manage native habitats for wildlife, including 9 federally listed endangered and threatened species.  We encourage the public to connect with nature through hiking, biking, photography, hunting, fishing or an educational program or tour.  Volunteers assist us in the work we do.
