What is CASA?
Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) are trained volunteers who are court appointed as Guardian Ad Litem on child abuse and neglect cases. CASA's speak for the best interest of the children in their case, including the children’s medical, educational, and placement needs. A CASA advocate is the most constant person in the child’s life that provides the only independent voice for each abused child.
What We Do
How do you become a CASA?

At least 21 years old
-
Submit an application including 3 reference letters

Pass national, state, and local criminal checks

Pass national sex offender check

Pass CPS background check
-
Attend a one on one orientation/interview

Complete 30 hours of training
-
Follow CASA polices
-
Commit 12-18 months to a case
What does a CASA do?

Visits the child(ren) in their case at least once a month
-
Complete Court reports
-
Attend court 4-5 times throughout the duration of the case

Work alongside their Case Manager and other parties
Each prospective volunteer is asked to complete and submit a Volunteer Application and to provide References before beginning volunteer service.
