Who We Are
Humanitarian Assistance for Asylum Seekers
Together we work to help asylum seekers who find themselves in Brownsville, Texas, and those who are waiting in the Mexican cities of Matamoros and Reynosa.
Team Brownsville was founded in July 2018, by a small group of like-minded educator volunteers. Since then, our membership and mission have expanded with the help of volunteers and donors from around the globe.
What We Do
Team Brownsville volunteers help families and individuals legally seeking asylum in the United States.
The team adapts to the conditions on the ground and has offered a variety of programs in the last three years to assist asylum seekers.
We are focused on a dual mission: to continue supporting the asylum seeker community in the cities of Matamoros and Reynosa, Mexico, and to welcome and support families released by US authorities into the United States at the Brownsville Bus Station.
We provide food, water, shelter, and basic necessities. We support a variety of legal, medical, and other services for this vulnerable population.
