Quinta Mazatlan invites participants to support maintenance efforts at the Tiny Forest located at Firemen’s Park in McAllen, TX.
The forest is located at the far north end of 1st Street, to the right of the playground. Volunteers will help us weed out invasive grasses, all while getting to learn about the Tiny Forest initiative in McAllen!
A Tiny Forest is a dense, fast-growing native habitat designed to restore biodiversity, reduce urban heat, and support local wildlife within small urban spaces. This initiative also provides hands-on learning opportunities about ecological restoration and environmental stewardship in the Rio Grande Valley.
Responsibilities include:
• Removing invasive grasses and unwanted vegetation
• Supporting general forest maintenance and cleanup
• Learning about the Tiny Forest method and local ecosystem restoration
This is an outdoor, physically active opportunity. Participants should wear appropriate clothing for weather conditions and be prepared for hands-on work.
Once participants register, the required waiver will become available within the registration process. Please download, print, and bring the completed waiver with you on the day of the activity.
