Our Next Low-Cost Community Clinic is happening on Saturday, August 29th at 9am!
Are you interested in helping prepare vaccines and interacting with pets in our community? Sign up through Engagement Zone to get started!
As a volunteer, you’ll help our community clinic run smoothly by assisting with preparation and supporting the team as pets receive their vaccines. Your help ensures each pet receives the care they need!
What Community Clinic is:
PVAS operates monthly low-cost community clinics for dogs and cats every month. All pets are welcome, not just those adopted from our shelter. The clinic provides preventative veterinary care consisting of select vaccinations and microchipping.
Our clinics are staffed by licensed veterinarians, veterinary technicians, dedicated animal care specialists, and volunteers. All proceeds generated by our wellness clinics help cover the cost of medical care for shelter animals.
Expectations & Requirements:
Our community clinic is partially outdoors, depending on the role you are assisting with. We will monitor the heat and weather conditions and rotate volunteers as needed to help keep everyone safe and comfortable. Please bring your own refillable water bottle and stay hydrated throughout your volunteer time.
Roles:
Vax Pack: In this shift you will help with vaccine preparation and provide vaccines to our dog and cat lanes as needed by our medical crew.
Pup-Cup Barista: As dogs and cats wait for their turn, they are given complimentary Pup-Cups. Your role as a barista will be to prepare and distribute these to the line.
Paw Patrol: Your service for this role will be to keep an eye on dogs and cats status, whether they need water or need to be placed in a holding room with AC.
Traffic Control: This role is crucial to our drive through clinic as you will be directing and controlling traffic in order for it to run smoothly. You will communicate with patrons if there are back ups and ensure they are in the right lane.
Attire: We strongly recommend you wear pants or jeans (or appropriate-length shorts and leggings given this event will occur partly outside) and closed-toe shoes. We strongly suggest avoiding hanging jewelry, facial jewelry, or excess jewelry.
Arrival and Duration: All volunteers should be at our Laurie P. Andrews location by 8:30 am, pet owners will be lining up around this time and we will begin to vaccinate promptly at 9:00 am. This event will run until our last pets are serviced around 12:00-12:30pm.
