IMAS is looking for enthusiastic and outgoing volunteers to
assist at the 2026 Back to School Bash event on August 15, 2026. This free
admission event welcomes all visitors to enjoy a variety of hands-on activities
and receive free school supplies from our partnering organizations and
businesses in the community.
***Volunteer placement will be designated dependent on registration and areas of priority with the most need.
Shifts: (3.5 hr. shifts)
- 10 am – 1:30 pm (10)
- 1:30 pm – 5 pm (10)
Mariposa Loteria Facilitator
- Volunteer in the Science On a Sphere theatre with the National Butterfly Center.
Volunteers will assist National Butterfly Staff in the facilitation of Mariposa
Loteria. Volunteers will distribute Loteria/Bingo, help call out cards, check
winning cards and pass out prizes.
Cruisin Craft Cars Assistant
- Volunteer in the Ann Moore Art Studio with IMAS Educators. Volunteers will help
assist visitors by distributing materials for Cruisin Craft Cars and help
visitors complete their take home car as needed. Volunteers will also help keep
a tidy workspace for incoming visitors.
Word Art Assistant
- Volunteer and assist in the Word Art Atrium. Visitors will engage and use typewriters
to create hands on word art such as poetry, haiku or a friendly message that
they can share with friends or family or hang in the art atrium for fellow
visitors to see. Volunteers will provide fresh paper and instructions on friendly manual
or electronic typewriter use.
El Estudio Monitor
- El Estudio exhibit is full of interactive and engaging hands-on exhibits, from
Pitch Slider to Chain Reaction. IMAS is looking for a volunteer to help
visitors who may have questions about these exhibits and how they work.
Button Maker Assistant
- Volunteer in the Industrial Lab with an IMAS Educator and assist visitors by distributing materials and instructions on how to create a fun button used from magazines, crayons and markers. Volunteers will also help keep a tidy work space for incoming visitors.
