Want to impact residents in Hidalgo and Starr Counties?
Help United Way of South Texas through its VITA Program (Voluntary Income Tax Assistance Program) to assist low-to-moderate income families earning a yearly household income of $60,000 or less in providing free tax preparation services. IRS trainings and certifications are provided, free of charge. Visit United Way of South Texas.org to sign up for the trainings.
- VITA Volunteers will serve as “Tax preparers” under the supervision of two experienced site coordinators.
- "Tax Preparers" are volunteers that are trained and certified to become tax preparers. All volunteers must be trained and IRS certified before volunteering at a VITA site.
- VITA Volunteers must follow all COVID-19 CDC guidelines and procedures at each site. NO EXEMPTIONS.
- VITA Volunteers are welcome to volunteer at any 13 operating VITA sites.
