Volunteer: The Challenge-RGV 2026: Community Event Specialist (Brownsville Farmers' Market)

The Challenge-RGV is an opportunity for participants to make sustainable healthy lifestyle changes and lose weight when appropriate. The Challenge-RGV partners with local gyms, fitness experts, nutritionists, and local organizations. Over the course of three months, participants have FREE access to gyms, exercise classes, health screenings, cooking classes, and fun walks/runs.

The event is open to people 18 years and older from anywhere in the Rio Grande Valley. Participants are also not required to be overweight. Individuals who participate in The Challenge-RGV have their baseline weight taken at the kickoff event in January, and then again at a midpoint weigh-in and at the finale in April.

There will be an additional weigh-in opportunity on Wednesday, January 21st at the Brownsville Event Center and Brownsville’s Southmost Library.

We are in need of assistance with guiding, pedestrian traffic control, helping with data collection, water station assistance, or assembling and distributing gift bags for The Challenge-RGV weigh-in events in Brownsville. All volunteers are required to arrive an hour before the event start time to assist with set up.

The Challenge-RGV Kick-off: Saturday, January 24th  – Brownsville Farmers' Market at Linear Park (1534 E. 6th St, Brownville, TX 78520) from 9:00am - 12:00pm (UTRGV volunteer arrival time is 8:00am)
