The City of Edinburg invites the community to its 10th annual Frida Kahlo Festival, which celebrates Women's Empowerment and achievement in the Rio Grande Valley, on Saturday, July 15, 2023. Guests will enjoy a Women's Panel, Artist Reception, Frida Kahlo look-alike contest, local talents, local vendors, and soul-stirring musical performances.

 

The festivities start at 5:00 pm with a Women's Empowerment Panel at the Edinburg Municipal Auditorium (EMA) located at 200 N. 7th Ave, right behind City Hall. This Empowerment panel will showcase the achievements and experiences of influential women from various fields, including business, politics, arts, and academia. Attendees will hear inspiring stories and insights from these remarkable women who have made significant contributions in their respective domains. It aims to inspire and empower women of all ages to pursue their dreams and embrace their potential. This Women's Empowerment Panel will be a captivating event, providing a platform for learning, networking, and celebrating the achievements of extraordinary women who have blazed trails and shattered glass ceilings.

 

Alongside the Women Empowerment Panel, at 6:00 pm, an Artist Exhibit will be taking place at the lobby of Edinburg City Hall located at 415 W University Dr, Edinburg, TX 78539. The exhibit will feature a collection of artworks by talented female artists from both the local and regional art scene. Tania Viveros, a highly esteemed local artist and art teacher, handles the exhibit's curation. Tania possesses an impressive academic background, holding a Master of Fine Arts in Art with a teacher certification, as well as a bachelor's degree in fine arts. Her commitment to the arts is evident through her extensive research, museum visits, educational endeavors, and unwavering support for fellow artists. Currently, Tania serves as an art teacher, sharing her expertise and passion with aspiring artists.

 

At 7:00 pm, the festivities begin! There will be local vendors, food trucks, carnival rides, Frida Kahlo Inspired models, Mariachi performances, Folklorico performances, and a performance by The Valley's Five Star Party Band, Ache De Barrio.
