Who We Are
The Children's Center, Inc. is a non-profit organization that has been around since 1984 in the Galveston and Houston area. The mission of the Children's Center is to rescue, nurture and empower youth and families utilizing a quality continuum of care to facilitate independence and quality of life. Our goal as an agency is to bring awareness to the RGV community about the lack of resources for Runaway and Homeless Youth population.
What We Do
The Children's Center, inc has a Basic Center Program in the Rio Grande Valley that helps create and strengthen community-based programs that meet the immediate needs of runaway and homeless youth under 18 years old. Basic Center tries to reunite young people with their families or locate appropriate alternative placements. Some of the services Basic Center offers are short term emergency shelter, basic needs such as food and clothing, trauma informed individual, group or family counseling and after care services. As an agency, we also provide immediate help to those who may need assistance.
