Who We Are

Miracle Kids of South Texas (also known as Miracle Kids) was established in 2002 by a Valley Baptist Medical Center employee and other members of the Rio Grande Valley community. The employee had a child with special needs and by vocation was a physical therapist, so she was passionate about providing activities for these children. This group of volunteers has made up the Miracle Kids Board and they have successfully provided 6-8 meaningful events for these children each year. In 2012, the group with the successful track record and a desire to expand and grow, obtained their 501c3 status with the IRS. The mission is to provide fun, organized activities, free of cost when not otherwise specified, to disabled and special needs children ages 5-15 in the Rio Grande Valley. The goal of these events is to provide a safe environment in which these children can participate in physical activities, demonstrate courage, build self-esteem and develop friendships with others in the community. To date, 100% of the donations received have been used to organize events, buy food, shirts and medals for the children. Some of the events include playing miniature golf, bowling, football, tennis, baseball and much more with the assistance of a trained buddy. Buddies are students, board members and other volunteers from all over the Rio Grande Valley. The events are held all over the Rio Grande Valley, making them accessible to all valley families. The children have fun at these events and enjoy being in the spotlight, all the while providing valuable networking opportunities for their parents watching proudly on the sideline. This group operates solely on donations.
