Who We Are
The Edinburg Housing Authority (EHA) is third largest in the Rio Grande Valley area. First established in 1949, EHA also happens to be and one of the oldest Public Housing agencies in South Texas region. EHA is directly supervised and funded by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD).
What We Do
The Edinburg Housing Authority is currently providing housing assistance to more than 1350 low income housing (398 public housing units and 970 Housing Choice Voucher units, as of January 31, 2015) in the city of Edinburg.
Following are the statistics of population we serve at EHA:
- A majority of our heads of household have a 5th grade level education
- About 80% percent of our households have children, with a single female parent
- The average time housing households utilize housing assistance is 5 years
- The average annual income of households is $10,130
The Edinburg Housing Agency realizes that we need to do more to help our residents become self-sufficient and rise out of poverty. By emphasizing education among our residents and providing them with opportunities to continue learning, we believe we can empower them to succeed and ultimately help them transition out of housing sooner.
