Who We Are

The Greater Chamber of Harlingen is an nonprofit organization committed to promoting economic growth, community development, and enhancing the quality of life in the Harlingen area. Serving as a central hub for local businesses and community members, we provide essential resources, advocacy, and networking opportunities to support our members and the broader community. Our mission is to foster a strong business environment, advocate for beneficial policies, and create meaningful connections that drive progress and prosperity. What We Do

What We Do at the Greater Chamber of Harlingen


1. Business Support and Development

- Networking Opportunities: We organize events such as mixers, luncheons, and business expos to help members connect, collaborate, and grow their businesses.

- Business Resources: Offering resources such as business directories, marketing assistance, and access to business development programs.

- Workshops and Seminars: Providing educational opportunities on various topics like marketing, finance, leadership, and industry-specific trends.


2. Advocacy

Government Relations: Representing the interests of the business community at local, state, and federal levels, ensuring that policies and regulations support economic growth.

- Public Policy: Engaging in policy discussions and advocating for initiatives that benefit the business environment and community well-being.


3. Community Engagement

- Events and Programs: We host a variety of events designed to foster community involvement and celebration, including Margarita Fest, Women EmoPOWERment Night, State of the State, State of the County, and our Annual Gala.

- Community Partnerships: Collaborating with local organizations, schools, and nonprofits to support community development and social initiatives.


4. Member Services

- Member Directory: Maintaining an online directory of member businesses to facilitate networking and referrals.

- Exclusive Benefits: Offering members exclusive discounts, advertising opportunities, and access to special programs.


5. Signature Programs and Events

- Leadership Harlingen: A program designed to develop future community leaders by providing training and exposure to various aspects of the community.

- CEO Shark Tank: This innovative initiative supports HCISD high school students aspiring to become entrepreneurs or local business owners. Inspired by the popular television show, the program allows students to present their business ideas to a panel of experienced business leaders and the mayor of Harlingen. The top three students will receive monetary scholarships to help kickstart their entrepreneurial journeys.

- Small Business Growth Initiative (SGBI): This initiative is designed to empower local small businesses and entrepreneurs by offering essential resources, training, and support. Its goal is to cultivate a thriving business environment that drives economic growth and community development. The chamber provides a one-year membership, allowing businesses to fully access the benefits available to regular members.

- Chamber Chat Podcast: Featuring interviews with local business leaders, community members, and industry experts to discuss relevant topics and share insights.

- Monthly Events: Every first Thursday of the month, we host "Women Empowering Women." On the second Thursday, join us for "Business Over Breakfast," and the third Thursday is dedicated to free small business training sessions, open to all businesses.
